One year later...
"how long?"
"About three years."
When id you start?"
First time...when I was seventeen."
"Kicked the habit?"
"Sorta."
"Sorta?"
"About a year ago I started again."
"How'd you stop yourself?"
"I didn't"
"Hm. What stopped you then?"
"Reed...he saved my life."
Now...
"Come on man!" Loral says to the dealer.
"Naww...I don't have any for you. Plus you know I don't gve free hits." He said.
"What?! I really need a fix!" says Loral frantically.
"Too damn bad!"
Loral walks away in fury.
Loral Michaelson is a 24 year who lives in New York, New York. She grew up in Philidophia, Pennsylvania. Loral moved to New York because she got the job as the assistant to the editor of Vogue magazine. She love her job very much and she was god at it. Loral was a smart, optomistic, hard-working girl with a courageous personality. Everyone loved her for it.
To everyone, Loral was living the sweet life. But up until about 3 years ago her addiction to cocaine started to take over. She has been an on and off user since she was 17 but after she left for New York she thought that she ahd kicked the habit for good. Until the pressure of her work and new life started to get to her. Stress was overwhelming and she couldn't handle it. Ever since she started usng again her life has ben slowly fading away... it wasn't until this day, that she would be saved...
Lying on the muddy sidewalk with the rain pouring down, Loral lays there barely breathing. And while laying there she sees one of her old buddies, Reed Brooks, from the NA meetings she used to go to.
"Reed?" Loral says with few breaths left.
"Loral?! Is that you?!" Reed says extremely suprised. "You dont look too good. I'm gonna have to take you to the hospital!" He picks he up and carries her to his car. "It'll be okay." He says softly.
A few hours later in the hosptal Loral is lying in her bed an when she waked up she sees Reed sitting in the chair next to her. "Reed?"
"I thought you had a ful recovery? i thought you were done using?" Reed says with the most serious look in his eyes.
"I thought so too...but here I am." Says Loral.
"Weren't the meetings working?" Says Reed.
"Yeah... and so was the therapy.. but the stress and cravings were too much and then it just tok over." Loral never felt so down on herself.
"That's what addiction does to you Loral... but you're not supposed to give in. Plus you do realize that you have more to life than this don't you?! Your family, your friends... they all love you. You can't just give up... you have to put up a fight and get through all of this. I know it'll be hard but you have soo many people who love you and soo much to live for... we'll all help you along the way."
Loral starts to cry.
"Loral..." Reed reaches over, grabs her hand, and looks her straight in the eye. "WE can do this, we can fight it together. Side by side. Hand in hand. I'm here for you."
Loral stairs at Reed for a moment. "Thank you."
"Hey.. what are friends for."
Loral smiles.
"Ya know your family flew up here and they're waiting to see you. Want me to go get them?" Reed says.
"Yeah. I guess I have some explaining to do."
Reed walks towards the door.
"Reed.."
"Yes Loral"
"You saved me"
Reed smiles. "Well now you have the opportunity to say someone else."
Over the next year Reed worked with Loral on her addiction problems. They went to meetings together, to therapy together, they even became roomates so they could keep a close on one another. And so far it's all been working. Loral has stayed clean for about a year now and it back working at Vogue. She finally got her life back and hopefully one day she can be a savior to someone...
One year later...
"How'd you stop?"
"I didn't"
"What stop you then?"
"Loral...she save my life."
